Kosta Boda Brains You Made My Day
Bertil Vallien has created a new series of twelve Brains with different expressions. The objects are pressed at Kosta Boda Glassworks.
Several of the objects are painted afterwards, some with gold leaf or silver. Brains come in a velvet bag and in a gift box.
Bertil Vallien created Brains in the 1980s as "an anti-stress object for the hand and eye. To place on the desk, to have next to the bed and to take on the journey". Each head has a name inspired by, among other things, great thinkers and artists.
This edition is launched as "thought seeds" or messengers.
"I sometimes think of my brain as a seed. When a thought strikes out there in the dark inside the protective skull bone, it's as if the brain is thriving. Like seeds, thoughts can survive for thousands of years, and I like to think that the good ones always survive the bad ones. These mini sculptures, they fit in your hand, I've named Brains and in them I've been trying to catch some thought seeds that have blown through my own brain... Do you recognize yourself? Just give them a moment in your hand to ripen."
